Panther Hoops International Basketball Academy’s mission is to impact players, families and communities, both on and off the basketball court, through Faith-Based Programming, Events and Coaching. We strive to provide elite level Programming and training for athletes both locally and globally. Whether the player is Grassroots or Elite International Prep, all players will experience an elite basketball experience through positive coaching and an encouraging team environment while they learn to Play Hard, Play Together and Play with Purpose.
Play Hard.
Play Together.
Play for Him.
Academics are essential to the future placement of a player into colleges or university, but what happens when your student athlete feels the additional pressure to keep up with their school study program while traveling with the team? The athlete will need to make practices, strength and condition training, and of course the games. In themselves the basketball commitments are demanding, trying not to miss those vital academic due dates and tests can become challenging in a traditional high school setting. This can mean a promising athlete’s education, or playing potential, may be compromised.
PHIBA takes the stress, compromise and pressure out of the academic experience by balancing these considerations to create a successful synergy between accomplishment in academics and achievement on the court. Our schooling is self- paced around the basketball program and tailored to the individual student athlete. In partnership with the online school we set the deadlines, manage the due dates and ensure the students are keeping pace with their courses. Our on-site courts, gym and classrooms provide time opportunities to the attendees and minimize time loss due to travel.
Why now?
The realization of a long held dream by our coaches, the excitement that this goal has come to fruition in the middle of a pandemic, means that students will not only learn in small pods but also be able to participate in training in a safe environment when the new school term begins.
Beautiful B.C. is situated on Canada’s West Coast and boasts the natural beauty of a temperate Rain-forest. It provides some of the most breathtaking natural parks to hike or work out in, in the world! Part of the curriculum is to use this beautiful environment to incorporate into our athletic program. Who would not want to challenge the famous Grouse Grind at Grouse Mountain? Or hike at Golden Ears Provincial Park? Or visit local museums and historic sites, incorporated into the academic program?
We are in the Tri-City area of the Lower Mainland about 30 minutes drive to the east of Vancouver, in Port Coquitlam. We are serviced locally by buses, highways, West Coast Express Railway, Skytrain and bicycle lanes as well as many local trails and pathways. We have all the shopping and services locally that an Academy needs.
Schooling is individually tailored around the student, school needs and tournaments. Therefore, schooling can be managed without stress. If PHIBA travel for more than a few days schooling will be included in the travel curriculum. We value travel as a life experience and we also value the educational opportunities traveling provides. We are serviced by two International Airports, Vancouver and Abbotsford, and only a short drive across the border to take advantage of Bellingham Airport in Washington State. We travel throughout the USA and internationally to attend basketball tournaments, and we incorporate learning at every opportunity. We add educational enhancement through local places of interest, including sites of historic interest such as local museums, galleries and important sites of cultural significance.
